Hey, I don’t have any service! My phone isn’t working!
Do you have service?
No!
Then our GPS and maps are not working! Do you know where we are?
Don’t you have a map in the car?
Umm, no! Who has a map?
Maps
Do you have a paper map? A road atlas? Do we teach kids who to read maps? My husband likes to watch crazy shows and I just go along. I do not remember the name of the movie, it was one of those you find on Amazon Prime. A group of young adults (kids to me) begin a cross country adventure to go camping and they take a turn on a road that has a chain across it. They loose phone signal service and have no idea where they are. Even though one of them claims they know! It gets dark, cold and then…..yep bad things happen! No maps!
Would a map help? What about a compass? Do our kids know how to survive in situations when…….
- They get a flat tire?
- Loose phone service and become lost?
- There are no machines to accept credit or debit cards?
- How to start a fire without a lighter or matches?
I can add many more to the list. What do you think is essential for young adults to know?
