Harvest Moon

I captured this picture of the moon in full display to announce to all of us it is Harvest time! I have been holding off on cleaning the windows because their is no need to do it before harvest. All of the dust generated from the fields brings all of the dust to our doorsteps or window screens.

The breeze had a little chill in it today, but I loved rocking on the back deck and hearing the combines in the distance knowing they would be making their way to the fields near me tomorrow.

Fall is my favorite time of year! Nature has a way of painting beautiful colors and bringing just the right temperature to remind us to warm up to those we love. Oh, the hot chocolate, warm fires in our little fire pit, and the stories shared remind me of all the beautiful memories life lived contains.

If you have never experienced harvest time, please try to visit a farm sometime in your lifespan. A family-owned farm, I should say. We live in a rural farming community. We know most of the farmers in the surrounding areas because of the business we have, plus I also worked in education as well.

Children should be able to see how the farmers bring in and put out their crops also how they take care of the livestock if they have any. Seeing how this is then transferred to make the food we eat and products we use is important.

There are many festivals around this time of year, and a great time to experience those campfires, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows to make s’mores! Great times to be had during Harvest Time!

What is your favorite season? Do you have special things you do in the Fall? I am going to cozy up with a book for a little while and then eat some chili.
